I wanted to thank everyone who responded to my last post! You are all very helpful and supportive!
I have decided to go ahead and pursue nursing. The more that I talk to people in the profession the more excited I become. I think I will be very happy with my choice. Since I have been in college, I have learned this: I truly envy those people who grow up with a dream of what they want to be or do, and they continue to be focused on that.
I am also excited about nursing because I can work part-time so my husband and I can start a family and spend time on my favorite part of my life: my cows and horses! Oh that reminds me-my husband and I worked an LRCA rodeo last weekend and later, when I get home, I will post some pictures!
So I want to know this: have you always known what you wanted to be when you "grew up?" are you still figuring it out? Let me know your thoughts. And, if you could have your "dream job", what would it be?

Glad you decided to go for it! Good luck!
ReplyDeleteThese are great questions, and they really made me think. From the time I was 5 until recently I've always wanted to be a teacher. I think once everyone of my friends became a teacher and complained about it constantly, I started to rethink my choices. I went from wanting to be a teaccher, to an interior decorator, to a pharmaceutical sales person. Who knows, I think I'm just hoping something comes across me and clicks, and I will know what I was meant to do. I hope I figure it out. The older I get the more my priorities change. We'll see, hopefully I'll know soon.
ReplyDeleteI hope you enjoy nurseing, I'm sure you'll be great!
I spent most of my adult life running away from teaching, and you see where I am. And, I'm ecstatic to say that my daughter may have her first full-time teaching job in about two weeks--after she takes one more test! They are holding the job for her until they get her test results. Fingers crossed for her!

I admire you for your decision and believe that your love for such a noble profession will bring you and others many rewards. Growing up, I always wanted to be a homemaker. I came from a broken, dysfunctional family and believed with all my heart that I could make a difference in my own children’s lives. I was able to be a stay-at-home mom for several years and it is a twenty-four hour, seven day a week job. It was much easier to go to work from eight to five, but not as rewarding. Of course, life doesn’t always work out the way you plan it. I work at a Community College now and simply love it. I could never stomach the medical profession so this is the perfect job for me. I am able to help other students and because of this, I receive daily rewards.
